Dr. Joe Sallustio is co-founder and host of The EdUp Experience, the higher education podcast network where he has interviewed more than 1,500 higher education leaders, including over 500 college and university presidents sitting at the time of interview. He is co-author of Beyond Survival: Reporting From the Front Lines of Higher Education's War for Relevance (EdUp Press, 2026), written with Dr. Elvin Freytes and built on 240 interviews with sitting presidents.

He spent 25 years running higher education before he began reporting on it — leading enrollment, marketing, finance and student services at nonprofit and for-profit institutions. He speaks about institutional change as someone who has carried the budget and the enrollment target.

He currently serves as Chief of Industry Engagement at Ellucian, as a Senior Consultant and Subject Matter Expert for the Association of Governing Boards, as a trustee of Notre Dame de Namur University, and as an adjunct professor at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. He holds an EdD in Organizational Leadership.
